Paraguay (Update)
On 18 October 2018, the National Emergency Secretariat of Paraguay (SEN) updated the drought situation in Presidente Hayes and Boqueron Departments, Paraguay. The number of families affected in el Chaco increased to 2,155 families (an increase of 420 families since the report of 11 October). SEN is providing humanitarian assistance to affected families. Eastern Pacific – Guatemala – El Salvador - Mexico (Alert)
On 19 October 2018, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NOAA), reported new tropical depression is forming 85 miles southwest of Puerto San Jose, Guatemala and 115 miles southeast of Tapachula city, Chiapas State, Mexico . Heavy rainfall is expected across portions of El Salvador and southern Guatemala until Wednesday morning; this rainfall could produce life-threatening flash flooding and landslides within mountainous terrain. On 19 October 2018, the Government of Mexico (CONAGUA) issued a press release forecasting heavy winds, rain, and landslides in the following States: Veracruz, San Luis Potosi, Oaxaca, and Chiapas. Media reported six fatalities occurred in San Pedro Ocotepec Municipality, Oaxaca State due to landslides.
