Two shipments leave Pittsburgh Wednesday, August 4, 2004
Brother's Brother Foundation and B'nai B'rith International are sending close to $2.5 million of donated pharmaceuticals on Wednesday, August 4th from BBF's north side warehouse. A truck will be loaded after 2 p.m.
These donations include 26,000 bottles and tubes of antibiotics, cardiac mediations, pain relief, other medical supplies and will be air shipped to Paraguay with the help of LAN and Green Transport, Inc. who donated air shipping from Miami, Florida. Norma Rozman, BBF's long-time volunteer contact from Paraguay, with Lions Club members in Paraguay and Surgicorps International, are including and distributing other medical supplies related to fire victims.
This shipment was authorized before the devastating supermarket fire on Sunday that killed over 460 individuals in Paraguay. This shipment will help meet the needs of many individuals as well as the victims of that fire.
The Brother's Brother Foundation is a 46-year old Pittsburgh based international charity, has provided more than 70,200 tons of medical supplies, textbooks, food, seeds, and other humanitarian supplies to people around the world in over 110 countries using a combination of gifts from the general public, corporations and the US government. In 2003 alone BBF provided almost $130,000,000 of relief help to those in need.
