Highlights

  • Search and rescue operations have ceased, and a mass evacuation has been ordered from at-risk areas surrounding the disaster site.
  • Routine immunization and essential primary health services were reinstated at two local health centres with UNICEF support.
  • 107 children screened for malnutrition, 23 children with wasting admitted for treatment. 35 health workers trained to improve nutrition services.
  • Two child-friendly spaces are providing age-appropriate recreational and psychosocial support at Mulatika Care Centre.
  • All schools remain closed. UNICEF has pre-positioned education supplies and temporary learning spaces for deployment to suitable locations.
  • UNICEF is working to ensure the safe, equitable distribution of aid and services to minimize security risks for communities and aid workers.
