Highlights

  • An estimated 7,850 people are affected by a landslide in Enga Province, including more than 3,300 children.
  • Up to 150 structures, including houses and one elementary school, were damaged.
  • Humanitarian access to the affected area is limited by infrastructure damage, security concerns and the risk of further landslides. A collapsed bridge has cut off the area from the main highway.
  • 1,427 families need hygiene and dignity kits. UNICEF’s initial response delivered kits to 30 families and mobilised 48 more kits.
  • UNICEF is supporting coordination efforts in collaboration with key government counterparts and other UN agencies.
