Census Final Figures
This report presents the final figures from the 2024 National Population Census for Papua New Guinea (PNG). Figures for each region, province, and district are included. Census information in this report represents only a selection of topics from the Census. Detailed demographic information from the 2024 Census will be released progressively. Detailed analytical reports and other products will follow. The figures in this report show where people were counted at the time of the census. Visitors were included at their location at the time of counting. Census reference night was Sunday 16th June 2024; however, counting extended over to October because of the communication and transport difficulties in doing such a large–scale exercise covering the whole country. The National Statistical Office (NSO) acknowledges the full support of the government of PNG and UNFPA, the US Census Bureau, as well as many organizations and individuals who contributed to the planning and conduct of the Census. Most of all, we thank the people of PNG for their cooperation and participation in this important national event.
