Launched in 2023, Papua New Guinea’s Child Nutrition and Social Protection Project is tackling high rates of child stunting through a multisectoral approach focused on the first 1,000 days of life. By combining cash transfers with community-based nutrition services, the initiative empowers vulnerable families and strengthens local health systems. Backed by the Government, World Bank, DFAT, and UNICEF, the project has already trained over 800 health workers and supported 5,000+ households, with plans to scale up nationwide.
