SITUATION OVERVIEW
Tropical Cyclone Maila caused widespread impacts across multiple provinces, affecting food security, housing, water sources, health services, and livelihoods. Assessment coverage has continued to scale up, providing a clearer picture of humanitarian needs across affected locations.
As of 30 April, assessments covered 140 wards in 23 Local Level Governments, across 8 districts and 5 provinces. Initial analysis indicates more than 83,000 people affected, with over 77,000 people in need of humanitarian assistance. A total of 34 fatalities have been reported.
Priority needs identified through assessments include food assistance, shelter and non-food items, WASH, health services, and logistical support to enable assistance to reach isolated communities. While assessment and response activities are ongoing, access constraints continue to influence the pace of operations in remote and island settings.
