Attachments

Overview

Since late July 2025, communal violence has escalated in the Kumbal area of Jiwaka Province, with repeated clashes between the Komunka and Dambe Kombkamane communities. As of 22 August, these incidents had already resulted in a large number of displacements, and reports indicate the situation has continued into September 2025.

As of 5 September 2025, the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) Emergency Event Tracking, based on the key informant interviews (KII), estimates that 1,310 individuals have been displaced due to heightened insecurity. This figure represents an increase of 292 individuals (29%) compared to the 1,018 individuals displaced that were reported in SitRep No. 1 on 26 August 2025. The rise reflects continued instability, tensions and active conflict in the area.
