The Pakistan 2011 Floods Early Recovery Framework was launched on 21 February 2012 to cover a nine-month period from January to September 2012.
Under the framework, UNICEF continues to lead the WASH and Nutrition Clusters and the Child Protection sub-Cluster, and to co-lead the Education Cluster with Save the Children.
UNICEF is continuing to work with partners to strengthen emergency preparedness and response plans, based on lessons learned during past emergencies and along with all Provincial Disaster Management Authorities’ (PDMAs) contingency planning.
- 4.8 million floodaffected, of which 2.4 million are children and 1.2 million women.
- 35% of the communities affected in 2011 were also affected in 2010.
- In Balochistan 0.3 million people were affected by the 2011 floods.
