Over 130 people have died and 200 have been injured in sectarian violence in Kurram tribal district near the Afghanistan border in the past ten days.
Armed clashes broke out last week when a convoy of passenger vehicles was attacked in Lower Kurram, killing more than 52 people, including women and children.
Around one million residents are experiencing food and fuel shortages, as electricity, internet, businesses, and major highways have been shut down for 50 days.
A ceasefire between the tribes, mediated by government officials, was extended for another 10 days on 30 November.
Since 1981, Kurram has witnessed recurring sectarian clashes, resulting in the deaths of thousands from both the Shi’a and Sunni sects.
