Pakistan - Tribal conflicts in Kurram district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province (DG ECHO, UN OCHA, Local Media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 22 January 2025)

  • An over 3-month long conflict in Kurram District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is leading to humanitarian needs among local population including an expected displacement of 1,879 families (ca 17,000 individuals) in to border district of Hangu. Local administration has dispatched relief items (22 trucks) including essential medicines to Hangu and has likewise set up camps for displaced persons in four village councils in Lower Kurram. Thall Hangu. Hangu is a nearby district and the proposed evacuation camps are not in lower Kurram but Thall Hangu district.
  • The safe passage of aid convoys remains paramount to addressing the basic needs of affected populations.
