Pakistan: SPAPEV hands over keys of pre-fabricated houses to Balakot earthquake victims

Islamabad, November 22nd, 2007: Saudi Public Assistance for Pakistan Earthquake Victims has handed over keys of pre-fabricated houses to Balakot earthquake victims who had been displaced by October 8, 2005 devastating tremor.

The Saudi Relief organization is actively engaged in the reconstruction and rehabilitation activities in the earthquake affected areas of AJK and NWFP soon after the establishment of the office here.

Media Director, (SPAPEV) Ibrahim Homaily while distributing the keys of the houses among the quake affectees of Balakot, said that Saudi Government, and people will continue helping Pakistani brethren in this hour of trial and to provide all assistance regarding relief goods, and reconstruction of their quake hit infrastructure.

He said that so far, the SPAPEV has constructed over 2500 houses in Balakot area and the remaining houses would be completed shortly, he added.

He said that last year, the Organization signed a contract of over 4000 houses worth 16.7 million dollar with Pakistani reputed companies and the construction of the houses is in full swing, adding the keys of the houses would be handed over to the affectees of Balakot very soon.

He said that the Saudi government and people are fully supporting AJK and NWFP quake affected people and the organization SPAPEV has spent millions of Riayls here in quake-hit areas of AJK and NWFP and distributed thousands of loaded trucks carrying relief goods containing medicine, food items, hundreds of thousands trucks, quilts, stoves, G.I. Sheets, and thousands of special tents among the people of AJK and NWFP.

He said that the Organization SPAPEV is working in Pakistan under the direction of Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, supervision of Prince Naif, Saudi Interior Minister and guidance of Dr.Saed Al-Harithy who is also the Chairman of the organization. He appreciated the efforts of Saudi Ambassador, who is supporting the organization in all its projects being carried out in quake hit areas.
