Pakistan: SPAPEV handed over another consignment of relief goods to PRCS

Islamabad, April 3rd, 2006: Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan, Ali Awadh Asseri on Monday handed over another consignment of relief goods of worth 2.5 million Riyals to Pakistan Red Crescent Society here at the Headquarter of the PRCS, Islamabad.

On the occasion, Saudi Arabia Govt based organization 'Saudi Public Assistance for Pakistan Earthquake Victims' (SPAPEV), Deputy Regional Director, Dr. Khalid M Al-Othmani, and other officials of the organization including Bandar Qublan Al Ajmi, Mohammed Abdullah Madouji, Saeed Ahmed Al Haddad, were also present on the occasion.

The similar consignment of relief goods were also dispatched to IIRO, Jamiat Ahle Hadith , Markazi Jamiat Ah le Hadith, Pakistan Relief Commission, WAMY, and others for distribution among quake survivors of October 8 Earthquake of NWFP, AJK Pakistan.

The Pakistan Red Crescent Society welcomed the assistance from the Saudi Arabia and thanked the Ambassador Ali Awadh Asseri for this gesture of goodwill which they extended for the October 8 earthquake survivors.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Saudi Public Assistance for Pakistan Earthquake Victims (SPAPEV) were working in Pakistan since after the Earthquake and so far have distributed huge quantity of relief goods of worth millions of riyals including tents, blankets, sheets, flour, rice, cooking oil, dry fish food, dry milk, sugar, dates, bags of flour, and medical equipments, medicines other essential items on many occasions..

Ambassador said that being Muslims they considered Pakistan as their second home and the loss in Pakistan was their loss and he added would provide all out help to Pakistan to mitigate the sufferings of the quake survivors..

The Ambassador said that Saudi Government since after the earthquake ordered the organizations of a donation campaign in Saudi Arabia for the assistance of victims of the earthquake.

Saudi Government is taking special interest in relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction for the earthquake affectees of Pakistan.

He said under the instructions of the leadership of Saudi Arabia , they were working here in Pakistan on humanitarian basis and soon they planning to start reconstruction phase with the coordination of ERRA.

Saudi Arabia is one of the countries that immediately came out with huge aid and relief goods for the earthquake victims.

Saudi Ambassador to Islamabad Ali Awadh Asseri have also distributed a large quantity of relief goods among the earthquake survivors since after the October 8 devastated earthquake.
