Pakistan: SPAPEV distributes food items among 150 quake affected families

Islamabad, May 3rd, 2006: A Saudi Arabia based relief Organization 'Saudi Public Assistance for Pakistan Earthquake Victims' (SPAPEV) distributed food packets containing rice, sugar, pulses, ghee and other necessary daily use items among 150 quake affected families who had been residing temporarily in the camps provided by Al Khubaib Foundation.

The Saudi Public Assistance for Pakistan Earthquake Victims, SPAPEV Media Director, Ibrahim Homaily and Mr. Abdullah Madooj distributed the food items among the quake affected families residing at Al-Khubaib Foundation at Abpara Community Centre.

The Al-Khubaib Foundation Vice Chairman M. Nasir thanked the Saudi relief organization and said that these food packets would help mitigate the sufferings of the quake survivors, adding the Saudi government colossal help extended since the October 8 earthquake could never be forgettable.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Saudi Public Assistance for Pakistan Earthquake Victims (SPAPEV) have distributed a large quantity of relief goods containing thousands of tents, hundred of thousands of blankets, the same number of quilts, medicine, medical equipment, food items (floor, rice, sugar, ghee, etc) of worth millions of riyals among quake hit areas people of AJK and NWFP.

Since October 8 earthquake, the SPAPEV had dispatched more than 400 trucks of of relief goods to quake ravaged areas of AJK and NWFP.

These relief goods were provided and collected by the Saudi Government and the people of Saudi Arabia. The organization (SPAPEV) also handed over relief goods of worth millions of riyals to many relief organization working in Pakistan including Ministry of Health, Federal Relief Commission, International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO), Hira children Academy- Haripur, Jamiat Ahle Hadith, Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith, government of AJK and NWFP and local NGOs for distribution. On many occasion, after the earthquake, Saudi Ambassador, Ali Awadh Asseri has also distributed a huge quantity of relief goods among the affectees.

It is also pertinent to mention here that the organization is preparing a project of reconstruction of houses, schools, college, hospital, shops, and mosques which will be built in the quake hit areas of Pakistan. The organization Regional Director, Abdullah Mosaed Al Anqari, Deputy Regional Direcotr, Dr.Muhammad Khalid M. Alothmani , Mr.Qublan Alajmi, and Mr.Saeed would shortly start the reconstruction with the cooperation of ERRA. Talking to newsmen, Director Media (SPAPEV) said that the Saudi Arabia would continue to support the earthquake survivors till their complete rehabilitation.
