Islamabad, Oct 30th, 2008: Saudi Public Assistance for Pakistan earthquake Victims announces to provide emergency relief goods containing essential items to mitigate the sufferings of quake-hit people of Balochistan.

Dr.Khalid M. Al-Othmani, the Regional Director of SPAPEV told newsmen here that the relief goods amounting to ($280,000) Two Hundred and Eighty Thousand US dollars containing 1000 tents, 1000 Blanksts and 1000 Quilts would be dispatched shortly to the quake-ravaged areas of Balochistan.

The relief aid was being provided on the special directives of King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, the custodian of two holy mosques, supervision of Prince Naif the Interior Minister of Saudi Arabia, and guidance of Dr.Saeed Al-Harithy to help melt-down the pain which they are facing in the shape of earthquake hit on Wednesday in different parts of Balochistan.

Giving a short briefing to newsmen about the establishment of the organization, the Regional Director said that the organization was working in Pakistani quake hit areas soon after the October 8, 2005 earthquake which played havoc in AJK and NWFP.

He said that so far, the organization had distributed some 230,000 blankets, 150,000 quilts, 12500 winterized tents, 4.0 million riyals medicine, stoves, 100,000 food packets containing sugar, pulses, Ghee, Oil, rice, flour bags and thousands of polypropylene sheets "Tarpal" among the affectees of AJK and NWFP.

Recently, the organization has completed a project of housing in Balakot area to resettle the displaced families of Red Zone. "Al-Hamdulillah", the project of 4000 houses has been completed successfully at a cost of 18.5 million US dollar, and a project of 3000 houses worth 15.3 million US dollar at Muzaffarabad & Bagh is under construction "Dr. Khalid said.

Talking about the future projects, the Regional Director said that the organization is planning to construct Govt. Schools, fully equipped Basic Health Units and Mosques in the quake-ravaged areas of AJK and NWFP.

He also lauded the personal efforts of the Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan who always stands firm with the organization in supporting of its all ongoing projects. He said that our organization would continue to help Pakistani quake affectees on humanitarian basis and would not leave them in this hour of trial.


Saudi Public Assistance for Pakisatan Earthquake Cictims is a Saudi based relief organization, which is formed in Riyadh to ensure the best utilization of Saudi public donations collected from the Saudi people on the call of Saudi Government to help Oct 8, 2005 earthquake affectees in Pakistan.
