On 16 April, a hailstorm accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds hit northern Pakistan, particularly the capital city, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi, triggering floods and flash floods that resulted in loss of life, injury, and damage.
According to media reports as of 16 April, one person was killed and another injured in a flood event in Chilas city, located in the Kashmir region of northern Pakistan. The flooding also caused disruptions to traffic and electricity, as well as substantial damage to buildings, vehicles, and crops.
Over the next 48 hours, the PMD forecasts additional rainfall, strong winds, and thunderstorms across the northern regions of the country.
