Pakistan - Severe weather and floods (DG ECHO, DG ECHO partners, PDMA, NDMA Pakistan, PMD, FFD, media , Relief Web) (ECHO Daily Flash of 04 September 2023)

  • Heavy rainfall has again affected Pakistan since 1 September that resulted in casualties and damage. Since the onset of monsoon, 394,314 individuals have been displaced in flood affected areas, mostly in Punjab, 323,612. Reportedly, 6 persons died, 101 injured, and 8,061 livestock perished.
  • Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan suffered the most damages to houses and shelters. 159,655 acres of agricultural land affected mainly in Punjab and Chitral, 80% was the standing crops. The infrastructure damages include 17,955 houses, 7,017 shelters, 15 roads, and 44 schools.
  • Relief activities are continued in flood affected areas and meal, medicines and other necessities are being provided to citizens living in the relief camps.
  • Public health concerns continue with partners reporting 79,489 confirmed malaria positive cases as of 1 September 2023.
  • Over the next 24 hours more heavy rainfall is forecast over northern Pakistan.
