Pakistan: Seven children swept away by floodwater

SUKKUR, July 25: Seven children were swept away by a strong current and 300 villages were submerged by water between Guddu and Sukkur barrages during the past 24 hours. The children were identified as Qabil, Deedar Ali and Mir Hassan, 7, of the Hazaro village, Rabia, 5, of the Hiruddin Tart village, Inam Khan, 8, of the Dodo Garhi village, Ditto, 7, of the Farid village and Bachi, 7, of the Kosh village. The bodies of Bachi and Mir Hassan have been recovered and search for other bodies is continuing. Due to the rise in the level of the River Indus, the villages in kutcha and Daulatpur town and at least 250 houses in the area were inundated by floodwater.
