The UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) has begun efforts to prepare a new site in Blakot area to shelter hundreds of residents who had been left homeless by the devastating earthquake that hit the city and other areas in Pakistan. This is the first initiative in the wake of the earthquake and is expected to be of great benefit to victims of the earthquake, said Fahd Abdul Rahamn bin Sultan, Head of the RCS delegation in Pakistan.
The efforts to relocate the victims comes in line with the directives of President H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, he said. The first phase will involve provision of 100 tents which can house 500 people in addition to providing foodstuff. He added that the RCS is also working to provide the basic needs for the displaced.
