Background
On 15 August 2025, intense rainfall and a cloudburst triggered devastating flash floods across District Buner, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The disaster led to:
- 222 fatalities (194 men, 18 women, 10 children)
- 120 injuries (90 men, 20 women, 10 children)
- Widespread destruction of homes, infrastructure, crops, and livestock.
- Critical shortages in electricity, communication, water, sanitation, and shelter.
- The number of casualties is expected to rise further as search and rescue operations are still ongoing.
The District Administration declared a flood emergency across five subdivisions of districts: Daggar, Gadezai, Gagra, Mandanr, and Chagharzai.
