KEY HIGHLIGHTS

A western disturbance entered Pakistan on 24th March and intensified from 27th March bringing heavy rainfall, strong winds and thunderstorms across various parts of the country. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) expected the system to continue until 31st March. These ongoing rains may trigger flash floods in parts of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces. Thus, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued alerts advising concerned authorities and disaster management bodies to remain vigilant and prepared. Immediate Forecast Concerns for 30 March to 08 April 2026 The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an advisory indicating that another westerly wave is likely to approach the southwestern parts of Balochistan on 1st April and is likely to persist through 4 th April. Under the influence of this system, flash floods are anticipated in northeastern Balochistan, in hill torrents of D.G. Khan (Punjab) and various parts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). These anticipated rains may also trigger landslides in upper KP, Gilgit-Baltistan and Pakistan Administered Kashmir. Isolated hailstorms are also likely in vulnerable pockets.
