Description
As per the Meteorological Department's predictions, specific regions, notably Gwadar, have encountered exacerbated conditions due to intense rainfall, leading to floods and subsequent disturbances. On February 27th, 2024, torrential rains triggered flooding in Gwadar, submerging several areas including Gwadar city and Sarabandan. The Commissioner of Makran verified that Gwadar witnessed prolonged heavy rainfall spanning nine hours, resulting in the collapse of structures and inundation of settlements around Jinnah Avenue.
The Meteorological Department reports that rainfall has been registered across various districts of Balochistan, with Gwadar recording the highest accumulation at 58 millimeters. Additionally, locations such as Quetta, Dalbandin, Khuzdar, and Turbat also witnessed varying degrees of precipitation.
The department anticipates ongoing rainfall starting from February 29th, 2024, bringing significant downpours to different parts of the province until March 2nd. The following matrix provides details concerning the incurred losses.

Summary
The operations room at the PRCS (Pakistan Red Crescent Society) National headquarters has been activated. An emergency meeting chaired by the Honorable Chairman, with the attendance of the Secretary-General and other relevant departments, was held on February 27, 2024, immediately after receiving the situation update from Balochistan. Certain instructions were issued to be followed by NHQ & PHQ to address any unforeseen circumstances. The actions taken so far include: Coordinating with the Provincial branch Issuing a Situation Report (this one) Updating the Go Plate form (to be updated based on this situation report) Mobilizing DP stock as needed (a package for 2000 households is designated to be moved as required, with associated arrangements) Transferring operational costs to PHQ to facilitate field movement and assessments Ensure that social media is updated in accordance with the provided information. A team at NHQ is on standby for deployment in the field to support provincial teams in conducting assessments, registrations, and the distribution of NFIs or any other interventions as dictated by the situation. The provincial branch of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has established a well-coordinated control room at the Provincial Headquarters (PHQ) to monitor the situation. Additionally, PRCS Baluchistan is collaborating with local authorities in Gawadar (including the DC office and DDMA) to compile a comprehensive damage report. In response to the crisis, urgent rescue operations are underway, aiming to provide relief to the affected population and restore normalcy to the flooded city. • PRCS Baluchistan Branch is working in tandem with the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to address the ongoing situation. PDMA is actively managing the crisis and will seek further assistance if the situation deteriorates.
Actions taken by others
a. Thus far, the PDMA and local authorities, in collaboration with the Pakistani army, have provided evacuation assistance where necessary. b. The administration of Gwadar district has declared a state of emergency in areas affected by the rain. The Deputy Commissioner of Gwadar, alongside other officials, conducted visits to the impacted regions and initiated rescue and relief efforts. c. PDMA dispatched two teams equipped with dewatering machinery and boats to the affected town. d. Caretaker Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki, has instructed the Provincial Disaster Management Authority of Balochistan to expedite relief operations in rain-affected areas of Gwadar by dispatching temporary shelters, tents, and other supplies upon request from the Deputy Commissioner of Gwadar.
