Pakistan: NDMA Situation Report No. 2 Earthquake in Balochistan

(For Period 0900 AM-2100 PM)

1. General.

Rescue and Relief operation were continuously under taken on a large scale. Speedy mobilization of resources was arranged by NDMA to get the response kick-started. The disaster management stakeholders having married up early during the day, pace of activities matched visualized work flow. In pursuance of directions issued by the President and Prime Minister, the tempo will be further stepped up.

2. Update

a. Employment of Military/CAF Resources

(1) Manpower

(a) Approximately 600 x all ranks committed.

(b) Medical teams working in situ.

(c) Damage assessment in process through aerial/ground reconnaissance parties.

(2) Material

(a) 8 x helicopters engaged.

(b) Medicines and medical stores delivered to affected areas.

(c) Air/Road Transportation of Relief Stores Completed/In Hand.

(1) Blankets - 6000

(2) Tents - 4300 (*2000 distributed)

(3) Warm Jackets - 5600

(4) Plastic Mats - 4000

(5) Sleeping Bags - 1000

b. Procurement of Essential Commodities ex Local Sources.

To meet emergent demands of food stuff and other essentials, PDMA Balochistan has been authorized to make immediate purchases and arrange timely distribution.

c. Losses/Damages.

142 confirmed dead, 250 injured. No fresh fatalities reported in wake of evening tremors.

3. Offers by Overseas/Foreign Donors.

Being evaluated as per approved policy.
