Pakistan - Monsoon season, update (NDMA, PMD) (ECHO Daily Flash of 04 July 2024)

  • The monsoon season has been hitting parts of the country, particularly Sindh province where in the past 24 hours two people have died due to severe weather-related incidents.
  • According to the National Disaster Management Authority of Pakistan (NDMA), since 1 July a total of seven people have died, six in Sindh and one in Balochistan due to flash floods and severe weather events, six people have been injured and 15 houses have been damaged.
  • For the next 24 hours, moderate to locally heavy rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is expected in parts of Kashmir, Balochistan, Punjab, Pothohar region, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan. Warning for floods and flash floods are in effect over the aforementioned areas.
