Pakistan - Monsoon season, update (NDMA Pakistan, Copernicus EMS, NOAA-CPC) (ECHO Daily Flash of 9 September 2025)

  • Beginning on 26 June, intense monsoon rains have caused widespread devastation in Pakistan, particularly impacting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab, resulting in numerous fatalities and large-scale displacement.
  • As of 9 September, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) recorded 922 deaths - 504 in KP, 244 in Punjab - and 1,047 injuries. 93,886 people are sheltered in 1,631 relief camps as over 5,905 homes have been damaged, and 1,946 houses are completely destroyed.
  • The Copernicus Emergency Management Service was triggered on 29 August (EMSR838) to assess damage, generating 25 products to date.
  • Further heavy rainfall is forecasted for 9–10 September, with particularly severe downpours in southern regions.
