Between 17 and 24 July, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported 11 fatalities and 10 injuries as a result of heavy monsoon rains and flash floods.

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has declared an emergency in the districts of Chitral Upper and Chitral Lower due to the devastating effects of flash floods in both areas.

In Sindh province, 183 villages of Six Union of district Dadu got affected as the main roads are underwater. People are using alternate routes for access.

In Balochistan province, six people lost their lives, while eleven others sustained injuries. Additionally, fifteen houses and ten shops/boundary walls were damaged in rain-related incidents.
SITUATIONAL UPDATE

According to the PDMA, KP heavy rains and flash floods between 17 July and 23 July resulted in the deaths of eleven individuals and ten people sustained injuries across multiple districts, including Khyber, Swat, Batagram, Mansehra, Karak, Mardan, Shangla, Upper Kohistan, Upper Dir, Lower Dir, Buner, Malakand, Bajour, Abbottabad, Upper Chitral, and Lower Chitral.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the flash floods also led to the loss of 49 cattle, with 2 reported in Mardan and 47 in the Upper Chitral district. Furthermore, the heavy rains caused damage to two schools and 109 houses, including 17 completely destroyed and 92 partially damaged. Among the affected houses, 65 were damaged in the Upper Chitral district.

In response to the request made by the Deputy Commissioner (DCs) of District Upper and Lower Chitral, the Secretary of the Relief Rehabilitation and Settlement Department declared an emergency in the districts of Upper and Lower Chitral. This emergency declaration is effective immediately and will remain in effect until 15 August 2023.

In Sindh province, six union councils of Dadu district are affected by the flood waters with an estimated 183 villages and 102,268 people got affected as the main roads are underwater. People are using alternate routes for access.

In Balochistan province, 6 people died, 11 got injured, and 15 houses and 10 shops/boundary walls were damaged in rain-related incidents in Awaran, Zhob, Killa Saifullah and Nasirabad districts. In district Lasbella one village got affected with 10 families shifted to safe places.

According to National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), 10 people died and 13 others were injured in rain-related incidents (roof collapse, drowning) in the districts of Lahore, Gujranwala, Okara, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur, in Punjab province.
