Pakistan: Mock construction of seismic resistant housing at Bagh, AJK in progress by Muslim Aid


Muslim Aid will provide more than 200 selected vulnerable families with seismic resistant houses in the Districts of Bagh and Manshera of the earthquake region. Design and structures of the houses has already been agreed with the consultation of local communities and observing guidelines recommended by (Earthquake Reconstruction & Rehabilitation Authority) ERRA through the auspices of Architects For Aid, UK.

Mock (Model) construction of 3 houses at the Bir Pani village of District Bagh of the AJK Region started This week. Noor-ul-Islam, the Project Engineer for the construction of houses, at the site told that we hope to complete the mock construction by May 15th provided weather remains favorable. He told that the community role and participation is very encouraging and the people are also satisfied on the selection of beneficiaries out of a large lot of 800 houses in Bir Pani, Bagh. He told that we have completed excavation work, PCC and RCC work in foundations while stone masonry is in progress up to DPC Level. After final approval of mocks from ERRA the remaining 200 houses will constructed within six to eight months time.

Country Director Muslim Aid Pakistan, Khobaib A Vahedy expressed his warm sentiments on the initiation of project for the betterment of the vulnerable families and assured that Muslim Aid is very committed with the overall well being of the beneficiaries. He told that many parameters and other standards are to be finalized after the mock construction and we hope that we would deliver the best solution to the public and specifically to the housing project beneficiaries.
