MUZAFFARABAD, Jan 20 (APP): Japan will construct five bridges destroyed by the earthquake on Kohala-Muzaffarabad- Chakothi road.
This was stated by Mushtaq Ahmed Awan, AJK Chief Engineer Roads, while taking to newsmen here Friday.
He said that before starting the construction of bridges project, the Japanese government and its people had donated 10 chain dozers and 10 excavators to the AJK PWD department worth of Rs. 250 million to help clear the closed roads due to land sidings caused by heavy rains and snowfall in the quake ravaged areas.
The AJK Chief Engineer said the AJK government has decided to provide reserve Rs. one billion from its budget for the purchase of construction machinery, adding that a Japan's construction company with the collaboration of National Highways Authority (NHA) besides widening of Kohala-Chakothi road would also complete five bridges on the same road.
Meanwhile, Korean NGOs "Joge Buddhists of Korea distributed relief goods of Rs. 7 million among the affectees in four different camps in Muzaffarabad.
On the occasion, the head of Joge delegation Heayong told the reporters that their organization had started fund collecting and relief goods soonafter the Oct 8 earthquake in the area.
The team handed over relief items including blankets, sleeping bags, shoes and other relief goods to the Pakistan Red Crescent Society to distribute among the survivors to help the survivors in this hour of trial.
Director Pakistan Red Crescent Society Col. Retd. Tariq Ur Rehman, Secretary and Additional Secretary AJK Red Crescent Society Syed Serfraz Naqvi and Malik Ishaque were also present on the occasion.
The Korean delegation assured that the people of Korea would continued to help the quake victims.
