Pakistan: Health Minister hands over medicine worth 3.5 million for the earthquake affectees of Balochistan

Mir Ejaz Hussain Jackrani today handed over reliefmedicines for the Earthquake
affectees of Balochistan to the Emergency ReliefCell of Cabinet Division.
The Director General Emergency Relief Cell, CabinetDivision Mr. Abdul Latif
Laghari received the medicines on behalf of the ERC.The Federal Government,
Ministry of Health, arranged through their emergency relieffunds, on the
request of Health Department Balochistan, substantial quantity(around 18
tons) amounting Rs. more than 30 lacks to combat any potentialdisease outbreak
among the affectees and to provide relief to the government ofBalochistan.
The medicines were procured through the Federal ServicesGovernment Hospital,
Islamabad. This is in addition to other efforts alreadydone by the Ministry
of Health for relief. Additional Secretary Health, Mr.Imtiaz Inayat Elahi,
Joint Secretary Health, Mr. Zia ul Haq, Manager HealthEmergency Preparedness
and Response Center, Dr. Ejaz Ahmad Khan were alsopresent on the occasion.
All the health emergency efforts are being conductedthrough the newly formed
Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Center (HEPR)of Ministry of
Health. The Federal Minister for Health appreciated the reliefeffort done
by the Ministry of Health and reiterated the commitment of thePPP's government
to reach the needy and provide maximum relief to the affectedpopulation.
