Pakistan - Floods, update (DG ECHO, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 13 July 2023)

  • NDMA issued a warning on 11 July about the possibility of medium to high level flooding in the Sutlej River near village Ganda Singhwala, Kasur district of Punjab. The rising water levels are expected to result in flood in Ganda Singhwala area within the next 24 to 48 hours that caused panic among villagers. The district administration has evacuated about 900 villagers who are sheltered in government schools in Sahjra and Sheikhpura Nau in district Kasur.

  • The meteorological department predicted intense monsoon rains from 13-17 July, in the different parts of the Country including Azad Jammu Kashmir and Punjab (12-17 July); Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Punjab (13-17 July); and Baloshistan, Sindh and Punjab (14-16 July).
