Since mid-June heavy monsoon rains have been affecting different parts of the country. So far 133 people have been killed, 215 injured, and 368 houses damaged. Infrastructure was damaged.

Over the weekend, heavy monsoon rains combined with flash floods affected lower and upper Chitral districts, causing severe damage to key infrastructures (bridges, roads, communication), private houses and reportedly killed 9 people. In total 120 houses were damaged and 888 people have been evacuated. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provincial government has declared emergency in lower and upper Chitral districts until 15 August.

Heavy rains from 23-26 July may cause urban flooding in low lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Gurganwala, and Lahore and may trigger landslides in vulnerable areas of Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan and hilly areas of KP. Additionally, there is the risk of flash flooding in Kashmir and different areas of KP. In Sindh, rain may cause water logging in low lying areas.
