Pakistan: FATA Return Weekly Snapshot (from 5 to 11 February 2016)

Attachments

During the week of 5 - 11 February, 1,115 families returned to North Waziristan Agency (NWA). An assessment mission to the 10 denotified villages in Mir Ali in NWA was concluded. The mission noted extensive damages to shelters, and serious deficiencies in water supplies and WASH services.
Although schools and health facilities are largely intact there is a lack of staff, supplies, and services. In addition there is a scarcity of skilled labor in the area.

Another assessment mission to 17 of the 39 denotified villages of Sararogha, Tiarza, Wana, Serwakai,
Ladha, and Makeen in South Waziristan Agency (SWA) was conducted during the week. Preliminary findings indicate an urgent need for shelter supplies, water schemes, shelter support, health staff (especially female staff and services), and improved access to remote villages. There is no electrical distribution system, and most public facilities were still under construction.
