In the period from the 17 to 23 June 1,448 families have returned to North Waziristan Agency (NWA). Returns are slow due to Ramadan and will likely remain slow for the coming month.
For the first time, the number of (registered) returned families has exceeded the number of displaced. This is an encouraging indication of the general success of the Government’s return plan, and of the efforts of the humanitarian community in providing assistance. Support to the return areas, including livelihoods, infrastructure, and health are crucial to ensure these returns are sustainable.
