Pakistan: FATA Return Weekly Snapshot (from 12 to 18 February 2016)

Attachments

During the week of 12 - 18 February, 488 families returned to North Waziristan Agency (NWA). The protection cluster conducted a return intention survey of displaced families from SWA. Ninety seven per cent of the respondents indicated that they are willing to return while three per cent said they had no intention to return. Sixty one per cent are ready to go immediately while 24% would like to return after one month. The major reason given for return is that IDPs have ‘no other options and life in displacement is worse than in area of origin (56%), while only 20% responded that it is safe now to return and 10% indicated that is ‘a good time to rebuild their houses’. Eight per cent are returning because everyone else is going’. Though the majority of families have indicated their willingness to return, rehabilitation of basic services continues but is inadequate to meet the immediate needs.
