Pakistan: Drought-hit areas get aid

F.P. Report ISLAMABAD: Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations has approved a grant-in-aid worth dollars 6,52,000 as emergency assistance to areas affected by drought and refugee influx in Balochistan and uplift of fisheries and livestock sector. Two agreements were signed on Monday between FAO and GOP. Minister for Food and Agriculture Sardar Rind signed the document while Dr Adel Mahmoud Aboul Naga for FAO, said a press release. The object of the project is to provide necessary inputs i.e. seeds, fertilizer for the revival of rain fed cropping and supplementary feeding to improve health of the breeding stocks in those areas. Under the projects, stock water points will be established by installing windmills and distributing pumping sets for provision of water for livestock and human beings.
