Highlight

  • The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan has risen to 1000 as of 25 March. Increase of 113 new cases in the last 24 hours.

  • 18 cases have fully recovered and discharged from hospital while Ministry of Health Services confirmed 7 deaths.

  • All provinces have moved towards partial lock down as a precautionary measure with military deployment in aid of civil authorities.

  • The most affected province due to COVID-19 virus is Sindh 413, followed by Punjab 293.

  • The Chinese government together with Alibaba Foundation sent a cargo plane to Pakistan carrying several tones of medical supplies, including N95 and surgical masks, which was due to arrive in Karachi on March 25.

  • Government announced around Rs 1 trillion relief package aimed at providing financial support to different sectors of economy affected by the economic slowdown unleashed by coronavirus pandemic in the country.

  • The government allowed some international airlines to bring Pakistani National stranded in transit.

  • The government is using mobile technology / Geo tagging to locate the people who were in contact with the positive cases and indicating them to get quarantined.

  • The government has suspended all the railways and in country flight operation till 5th April,2020.
