This service mapping of activities that promote Accountability to Affected People (AAP) and Community Engagement (CE) in Pakistan was conducted by OCHA in October 2022. The findings highlight what organisational and response decision-makers need to consider to ensure the views of affected people are heard and that feedback is used to design and adapt programs.
Most (81%) organisations engage communities in decision-making for the response, primarily in the assessment (84%) and implementation (76%) programming phases. Engagement is often through community meetings (97%), group discussions (90%), and meetings with representative organisations (73%). Men (94%) and women (91%) are most involved in decision-making,
Organisations should do more to engage communities in the design, monitoring and evaluation of programs, and to involve girls, people with disabilities, and older people in decision-making for the response. Just half (53%) of organisations use feedback from community members in programming, and only one-third (37%) work on building the skills of community members.
