QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Secretary Nasir Mehmood Khosa said on Sunday a total of 38,000 youths had submitted applications for jobs under the Aghaz-i-Huqooq-i-Balochistan package.

Speaking at a meeting held to vet documents, he said that appointments would be made on merit and the authorities would adopt the 1991 recruitment policy.

He called for proper scrutiny of certificates in order to ensure appointment of genuine candidates.

The applications were being dispatched to commissioners, DCOs and all government departments, said the chief secretary.

The meeting was informed that the final list of short-listed candidates would be available at the provincial government's website and the Services and General Administration Department should be contacted for further information.

It was noted that initially, the government would offer only 5,000 jobs and the remaining applicants would be given jobs in the next phase.
