In 2016, the humanitarian community in Pakistan plans to target the most pressing needs of 3.6 million people. Under the Humanitarian Strategic Plan, the humanitarian community will target 1.2 million people that have been displaced (IDPs) from FATA,
0.6 million IDPs that have returned to FATA, 1.5 million registered Afghan refugees and 0.3 million children and women that are both malnourished and disasteraffected.
In addition, the humanitarian community will support the Government with preparedness activities for future natural disasters. 2016 is set to be a year of returns with the Government planning to facilitate the return of nearly all (96 per cent) people still in displacement. Continued efforts will be made to ensure that IDP returns are voluntary, safe dignified and conducted according to humanitarian principles. Other key activites under the Strategic Plan include providing 1.5 million IDPs with food, 0.5 million with emergency shelter and 0.8 million with improved access to WASH.
