In view of the recent wave in Karachi which has led to unfortunate deaths, taking notice of the situation Prime Minister, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has directed NDMA for taking response measures on priority basis. NDMA immediately contacted PDMA Sindh and National Health Emergency Preparedness Response Network (NHEPRN) to undertake necessary response measures for establishment of heat stroke centres at all government and private hospitals including basic health units (BHUs) and to arrange all necessary emergency medicines for heat stroke victims as well as coordination with emergency services like Edhi, Chhippa and Rescue 1122 etc. for timely transportation of the affected persons.
NDMA has also directed PDMA Sindh to activate emergency helpline to address the needs of the affected people on priority basis and to start awareness campaign for the population to adopt preventive measures.
Chairman NDMA, also spoke to Corps Commander Karachi to render assistance in given regard. The Corps Commander informed that Army and Rangers have already been proactively pursuing the establishment of heat stroke centres for general population since last two days in entire provincial cantonments/Rangers established.
It was further assured that Army will render all possible assistance and services as and when required by NDMA and PDMA Sindh.
NDMA is actively pursuing establishment of Heat Stroke centres all over the Provinces especially Karachi through PDMA Sindh and Provincial Health Department. NDMA is also in touch with Army for establishment of Heat Stroke Centres in Sindh.
NDMA is constantly monitoring the situation in coordination with PDMA Sindh and is ready to facilitate the Provincial authority in given circumstances.
