Islamabad (dpa) - Landslides triggered by overnight tremors blocked the vital Gilgit-Astor road in northern Pakistan on Friday, news reports said.
At least eight tremors had hit by Friday morning, rolling down boulders on the road and breaking power lines in the Himalayan region, according to the private Pakistani television channel Geo.
There were no immediate reports of any casualties. Gilgit-Astor road is a section of the strategic Karakoram Highway that links Pakistan with China.
Last November, such tremors had killed 23 people and damaged some 6,000 houses in the earthquake-prone region.
