President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered provision of 100 million US dollars as an urgent relief to the victims of the earthquake which hit Pakistan. Sheikh Khalifa's order stems from the solidarity shown by the leadership and people of the UAE with Pakistan and their keenness to alleviate plight of thousands of the families there.
Earlier, Sheikh Khalifa ordered the dispatch of quick relief to the victims of the earthquake which hit several countries in the Indian subcontinent. Two teams from the UAE Red Crescent Society headed to Pakistan and India to provide relief materials to the victims and to evaluate their needs in order to ease their suffering and to improve their living conditions.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan also ordered the UAE Armed Forces to set up field hospitals in the earthquake affected areas in Pakistan and to provide urgent medical aid in form of medicines and other means of treatment to the tremor's victims.
