Background:

The recent outbreak of Noval Coronavirus has caused massive catastrophe in China, Italy, Iran and many other countries including Pakistan. The World Health Organization WHO has already declared Emergency throughout the world and followed up by emergency declaration in Pakistan. In the same context a National Plan is enforced immediately to cater Pandemic COVID-19. 1,296 CoVID-19 cases confirmed cases are reported in Pakistan.

HANDS Corona Emergency Response Fund:

Due to the lockdown situation, millions of daily wages labours/workers are unable to earn and feed their families so “food for survival” package is developed by HANDS. Considering the severity of problem, HANDS has created a “Corona Emergency Response Fund” and launched an appeal for the private donations. The appeal was published in reputable newspapers of the country including Daily DAWN and Jang. In response of that appeal, the private donations are received by HANDS for distribution of 5,000 food baskets so far. The long-term partner “medico international- Germany” has also supported food package for 1,300 families. HANDS is distributing food baskets in main cities of the country including Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Kashmore, Ghotki, Qambar Shehdadkot, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Thatta, Sujawal, Umerkot, Tharparkar, Badin, Matiari, Khairpur, Sanghar, Mirpur Khas, Tando Muhammad Khan and Tando Allahyar. HANDS field offices are in process of selection of Extremely Vulnerable Individual- EVIs in close coordination of district administration and DDMAs. HANDS has a target of 25,000 households for “Food for Survival” package in targeted districts.
