Emergency assistance for earthquake disaster in Islamic Republic of Pakistan

On October 29 (Wednesday), the Government of Japan decided to provide emergency relief goods (blankets, tents, etc.) equivalent to about 11 million yen to the Government of Pakistan, which suffered from damage of the earthquake.

On October 29 (Wednesday), an earthquake registering magnitude 6.5 occurred in Pakistan with the epicenter about 70 kilometers north of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan Province. The earthquake caused 150 deaths, 300-400 injuries and affected 35,000 people. Large-scale landslides have damaged roads and bridges of the affected area. While making utmost efforts on its own for the relief of the victims, the Government of Pakistan has requested emergency assistance from the Government of Japan.

The Government of Japan has decided to extend this emergency assistance from a humanitarian point of view and in light of the friendly relations between Japan and Pakistan.
