HIGHLIGHTS

The Education ERWG has reached 96 percent out of 1.3 million target beneficiaries including 481,242 girls and women and 795,277 boys and men to access safe learning environment across Pakistan. Followings are highlights of the achievement in severely and moderately affected districts across the country.

• Addition 43 schools were provided with Transitional School Structures (TSS). With this addition, a total number of 385 severely damaged schools (72 girl’s schools) were provided TSS benefitting 46,366 children including 17,722 girls in Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and KP as of November 2011.

• More than 414,689 children (172,322 girls) were supported in some 5,000 TLCs established for a period of 3-6 months to ensure continuation of education in post 2010 floods across Pakistan.

• Some 150 partially damaged schools were renovated in November 2011. This brings to 2,931 schools (939 girl’s schools) to have been repaired providing quality access of education to 412,891 children including 148,272 girls in KP, Balochistan, Sindh and Punjab.

• 298 cluster members (94 females) have been trained on INEE Minimum Standards for Education in Sindh, Punjab, KP and Balochistan. (annex: 1)

• Life skill of 15,154 PTCs/PTSMCs members including 4,459 females were enhanced through orientation sessions on their roles and responsibilities as part of school-based management.

• 15,780 teachers including 5,040 females have been actively involved in related capacity building activity across Pakistan.

• The table below shows existing critical gaps to be quickly addressed in order to support sustainable resumption of education of affected population in severely affected districts across Pakistan.
