Oman - Flash floods (NOAA-CPC, media, media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 15 April 2024)

  • On 14 April, heavy rainfall affected parts of Oman, causing flash floods and leading to casualties and damage.
  • According to media, at least 12 people died, five others are still missing and 1,200 people have been evacuated.
  • National authorities are conducting rescue operations and announced that all schools in the governorates of Muscat, South Batinah, North Sharqiyah, South Sharqiyah, Dakhliyah and Dhahirah will be closed on 15 April due to unstable weather conditions.
  • On 15-16 April, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected across north-eastern and northern Oman.
