Oman: Damage assessment team vows quick action

MUSCAT - As part of its efforts to speed up assessment of properties affected by Gonu, the committee formed as per the Royal orders of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos held its second meeting yesterday. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Minister of the Diwan of the Royal Court and Chairman of the committee and was attended by the Minister of Interior, the Minister of State and Governor of Muscat and the Minister of Social Development, the secretary-general of the National Economy Ministry and Assistant-Inspector-General of Police and Customs.

Upon the committee's invitation, the meeting was attended by the Legal Affairs Minister and Chairman of the Omani Charitable Organisation, the under-secretary of the National Economy Ministry for Development Affairs, and chairman of the sub-committee formed at the National Economy Ministry tasked with the assessment of properties. The under-secretary explained the efforts of the sub-committee, mechanisms for the field work teams and means to be adopted to accomplish their mission which includes field visits in co-ordination with various government and civil departments.

The committee took appropriate decisions that would enable all teams to carry out their work quickly and efficiently so as to minimise the sufferings of the affected people. The committee urged all citizens and residents whose properties were affected to co-operate fully with the team to enable it to facilitate its assignment and achieve the goals.
