WFP Palestine Emergency Response External Situation Report #79 (19 January, Reporting period: 1-11 Jan)

HIGHLIGHTS

  • For the first time since October 2023, WFP provided full food rations to beneficiaries in Gaza in January through its General Food Distribution programme, up from the previous 75 percent entitlement. This was made possible by higher stock levels following the partial easing of access restrictions since October 2025, alongside prioritization of distributions amid adverse seasonal weather and limited storage capacity. Sustaining full rations will require predictable humanitarian access, and timely delivery of food commodities.
  • WFP’s latest market monitor report showed that the increased entry of key food staples from WFP and commercial suppliers has helped bring prices down in markets, yet the prices of food items required for a balanced diet, such as vegetables, fruit, dairy and meat remain much higher than pre-crisis levels and unaffordable for most people who are largely without income.
