HIGHLIGHTS
- Israeli bombardment from the air, land, and sea continues to be reported across much of the Gaza Strip, resulting in further civilian casualties, displacement, and destruction of houses and other civilian infrastructure. Recent evacuation orders have also hindered humanitarians’ ability to respond.
- • Almost the entire population of Gaza is food insecure. Food affordability remains a major issue in Gaza.
- In Gaza City, following the hostilities on 27 June and 08 July, WFP has been forced to temporarily further reduce food rations to last only 10 days per family. This measure aims to provide broader coverage and accommodate newly displaced individuals.
- The Strip is massively congested and suffering from acute shortages of water. Sanitation is almost non-existent, and raw sewage and mountains of garbage have led to soaring infection rates. Access to emergency health care is also a challenge.
- Security in the West Bank has deteriorated significantly, with hundreds of Palestinian deaths, thousands of arrests, and mobility restrictions that prevent movement between towns and communities. These restrictions, along with violence and checkpoints, have severely impacted the economy and daily life, leaving Palestinians living in fear and uncertainty. WFP expects at least 500,000 people to face food insecurity.
- Despite these challenges, WFP reached an estimated 375,394 vulnerable people with in-kind and cash-based general food assistance across Gaza and the West Bank in July so far. In Gaza Strip alone, WFP reached 249,412 thousand people.
