Highlights

The Gaza Strip

  • Families across Gaza marked the first day of Ramadan in harsh conditions, in unsafe shelters or out in the open, and with limited access to essential goods and services. They cook, sleep, and store their belongings in small spaces where they also use open fires – since November 2025, humanitarian partners have recorded at least 12 fire accidents in these shelters, according to OCHA.
  • As reported by OCHA, the entry of humanitarian supplies from Egypt has remained critically low in recent weeks, due to high rejection rates by Israeli authorities.
  • OHCHR has raised an alarm over what it calls possible ethnic cleansing by Israeli authorities in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, citing intensified violence, destruction, and forcible transfers aimed at the permanent displacement of Palestinians.
  • UNRWA facilities continue to serve as collective emergency shelters for thousands of internally displaced people, despite severe conflict‑related damage that has, in some cases, created additional risks and hazards for those seeking refuge. UNRWA is working on additional measures related to the safety of its shelters, including developing awareness-raising posters for installations, allocating funding for repairs, working with communities, identifying at-risk populations in shelters, and outreach to different clusters, to mitigate these risks.
